I’m reading…
Dear Dad by Giselle Green
I’m only a few chapters in but so far, so good!
Handsome, 28-year old, Nate Hardman is a frontline reporter with a big problem. Suffering from shell-shock and unable to leave his house, he’s already lost his social life and his girlfriend. Now his career prospects are sinking fast.
9 year-old Adam Boxley who lives alone with his ageing nan, also has big problems. Neglected at home and bullied at school, he’s desperate to reach out to his dad – and that’s when he sends his first letter to Nate. Only Nate’s not who he thinks he is. Will he help? More importantly – can he?
Across town meanwhile, caring but impulsive teacher Jenna Tierney really wants to help Adam – except the feisty redhead has already had enough of teaching. Recently hurt by yet another cheating boyfriend, Jenna’s now set her sights on pursuing a dream career abroad … only she’s about to meet Nate – her dream man who’ll make her re-think everything.
The big question is; can three people desperate to find love, ever find happiness when they’re only connected by one big lie?
I recently finished
Quarter Past Two on a Wednesday Afternoon by Linda Newbury
This was an okay read despite me thinking I was getting one thing but ended up with another. I had issues with the main character and the missing sister and not really engaging with them.
At quarter past two on a hot afternoon in August, Anna’s beautiful, headstrong elder sister Rose disappears.
Twenty years later, Anna still doesn’t know whether Rose is alive or dead. In her early thirties now, she sees her future unfolding – with sensible, serious Martin and a grown-up, steady job – and finds herself wondering if this is what she really wants.
Unable to take control of her life while the mystery of her sister’s disappearance remains unsolved, Anna begins to search for the truth: what did happen to Rose that summer’s day?
What’s up next?
See How They Run by Tom Bale
I’ve been lucky enough to be auto approved for publisher Bookouture on Netgalley. Bookouture are starting to get some really good crime thriller books on board which I’m really pleased about….but my TBR book shelves aren’t. See How They Run will will be released May 6th so I wanted to read in advance of that.
In the dead of night, new parents Alice and Harry French are plunged into their worst nightmare when they wake to find masked men in their bedroom. Men ruthless enough to threaten their baby daughter, Evie.
This is no burglary gone wrong.
The intruders know who they’re looking for – a man called Edward Renshaw.
And they are prepared to kill to get to him. When the men leave empty handed, little do Alice and Harry realise that their nightmare is just beginning. Is it a case of mistaken identity? Who is Renshaw? And what is he hiding?
One thing is clear – they already know too much.
As Alice and Harry are separated in the run for their lives, there is no time for breathe in their fight to be reunited. And with their attackers closing in, there is only a choice:
STAY ALIVE. OR DON’T.
Have you read any of this week’s choices?

Quarter Past Two on a Wednesday Afternoon was on my TBR but spring cleaning happened on my Amazon wishlist and it got kicked out because I could not remember why I’d put it in in the first place.
I just started on Netgalley and I got a book from Bookouture that I can’t wait to start. This one sounds amazing. The blurb got me nervous. Happy reading! 🙂

In all honesty I don’t think you’ll miss it! I hope you enjoy your Bookouture read, they’re usually pretty good! 🙂

Weirdly, I’m quite glad I’m not auto-approved for any publisher on Netgalley. It would just lead to me being crushed by my TBR pile 🙂 I’ve been really good this month in not adding too many things and staying away from the library, but even so it just doesn’t seem to get any shorter!
I’m glad you’re enjoying Dear Dad so far 🙂

I’m only approved for Bookouture which is quite good as the majority of their stuff is rom com etc which I don’t tend to pick…although they’re publishing more crime and thrillers which I do like aaarrgghhh 🙂

I’m glad you’re enjoying Dear Dad, I loved this book! I keep hearing about See How They Run but I’m a real wimp and am so far unsure whether I dare read it. I might wait and read your review once you’ve read it and make up my mind then. 🙂 I hope you enjoy it.

I don’t like crime thriller books that are too graphic or gory either so hoping this one isn’t 🙂

I’ve heard good things about Dear Dead, but haven’t quite made up my mind if it’s for me – looking forward to seeing your thoughts.

It wasn’t what I was expecting and I think that lessened my enjoyment of the novel.

These books seem really suspenseful, especially Dear Dad. It’s all you can do to hope for a happy ending, but in the contemporary genre it doesn’t always happen.
A friend of mine uses Netgalley, but I don’t think it would suit me as I’m not good with ebooks – you get the books on your phone right?
Great post!

Yeah as I’m reading I’m thinking this can’t end well…but we’ll see!
You get the books emailed to a Kindle address, so if you have the Kindle app on your phone, tablet or laptop you can read them on whichever 🙂
