If We Were Having Coffee…

If We Were Having Coffee is a meme I’ve seen floating around for a while and believe it should be credited to Awesome Life but I connected with it via Becky!

I’m going to try and use it each month as a way to wrap up my month.  So grab your drink of choice and let’s chat!

If We Were Having Coffee I’d say my Goodreads challenge has started off well.  4 books read this month, not the 6 I was hoping for but never mind because I did get in a re-read of my fave book ever, To Kill a Mockingbird, and I still loved it.  Unfortunately the production I’d planned to go and see at the Birmingham Repertory has been cancelled, something to to with Harper Lee’s estate and the rights, bit gutted about that.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d let you know that my book MeetUp is going well.  I’m getting 6-8 regular members coming to our book swap coffee mornings which is a perfect number.  Not so good for my TBR as I seem to be bringing home more than I get rid of….nothing knew there then!

If We Were Having Coffee I’d give you a laugh and tell you about the third Xscape room I went to at the beginning of January.  I’d treated some family members to a game for Christmas so we all went along and were split into 2 groups for “The Bank Job”.  Well, girls against boys didn’t work and I failed again.  So much for third time lucky..pfft! Still good fun though 🙂

If We Were Having Coffee I’d tell you I finally went to see the new Mary Poppins. An enjoyable couple of hours but still love the original more.  I don’t know if you can beat something you’ve grown up with, and know all the words to all the songs, but it was good nonetheless!

How’s your January been?

If We Were Having Coffee I’d have a proper good whinge about how ill I was for 3 weeks in December.  I firstly gave myself food poisoning, ruining my 100% work attendance, in the now not so new job and then I got hit with a cold and the most awful sore throat and cough.  Avoid that if you can!  Not only was I proper under the weather but had to cancel 2 Christmas get-togethers because of it so that zapped my Christmas spirit.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d say I had a fab Christmas, hope you did too!  I’ve given and received some lovely presents, eaten so much food I’ve put on nearly half a stone (but loved it) and spent quality time with the family.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d give you a laugh and tell you about the second Xscape room that I went to with the Meetup group.  This was a Christmas themed room to which 5 of us went and we still didn’t get out, although we were much closer than last time.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d tell you that I failed my Goodreads challenge by half a book this year.  I’d challenged myself to 52 and am 2/3 of the way through the 52nd! Not going to beat myself up too much about that.  I’ve read 3.5 of the 6 I was hoping too this month and am currently re-reading one of my favourite books ever, To Kill a Mockingbird, which we’re going to be discussing it at my next book Meetup.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d tell you I’m off to the pantomime this afternoon.  All good festive fun!

Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year!

If We Were Having Coffee I’d say I’d only managed to read 3 books this month which is probably a new low record for me.  And 2/3 were not great reads for me which is probably why I only managed 3.  Because of this, I’ve gone to one of my comfort zones and am reading Agatha Christie’s Sparkling Cyanide, which is one of my fave TV adaptations but I’ve never read it!

If We Were Having Coffee I’d tell you about my visit to the Old Market Hall in Shrewsbury to watch The Little Stranger.  I’d read the book with my book group and had just managed to finish it in time to watch the movie.  I enjoyed both, for different reasons, but the movie was quite different to the book.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d bore you to death with my videos and photos from the Mumford and Sons gig I recently went too.  This was my birthday present from my daughter and they were bloody awesome.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d tell you what a laugh my belly dancing classes are.  Seriously, I think I’ve nailed the moves and then the music starts and I can’t tell my left from my right 😉  Having said that, I’ve bought a ticket for a Hafla (belly dance party) in February, I can perform in the group dance if I want……erm time to think about that one!

If We Were Having Coffee I’d tell you all about Sarah Millican’s Control Enthusiast show I went to this week.  My god, she was filthy but hilarious! I could then show you my badges that they were giving away at the end of the show.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d let you know that my Meetup group meets again tomorrow, which will be our third meeting.  Nothing better than a Saturday morning in a coffee shop, with lots of books and bookish people – check it out here.

If We Were Having Coffee what would you tell me?

If We Were Having Coffee I’d say how busy October has been for me, partly as it’s my birthday month, but also because I’ve been out and about meeting more people in real life than online! More to come..

If We Were Having Coffee I’d probably tell you that I’ve somewhat fallen out of love with writing book reviews and am finding the whole blogging thing a chore.  I have, however, read 5 books and listened to an audio book.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d let you know that I’ve started my own Meetup group.  Our first meeting of the Bridgnorth Book Swap, Coffee and Chat met on Saturday October 6th with 5 attendees.  I came away with some new books and hopefully new bookish friends to be!  If you’re not familiar with Meetup – check it out here.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d tell you all about the book folding workshop I went to at my local library as part of Libraries Week.  I’m now working on my fourth book and am hoping to sell them on Etsy.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d tell you all about my 24 hours in Liverpool, visiting the Terracotta Warriors exhibition and the Central Library (where I spotted Savidge Reads but was too chicken to say hello).

If We Were Having Coffee I’d say I’ve taken up belly dancing classes again and am loving it despite the aching hip and knee afterwards.  I’ve been to classes before but not for at least 6 years!

If We Were Having Coffee I’d tell you what a brilliant evening I had participating in a Sherlock Holmes themed Xscape Room!  This was the first Meetup that I’d attended organised by someone else.

If We Were Having Coffee I’d show you my crochet progress.  I’m really pleased with my granny squares, they’re not perfect but I don’t care.  I’ve learnt a new skill and am now working on a scarf for Christmas.

If We Were Having Coffee what would you tell me?
